Candle Care Instructions

Thank you for choosing Edmondson Candle Co! To ensure the best possible experience and safety, please follow these candle care instructions:

1. Initial Burn:

  • When lighting your candle for the first time, allow it to burn until the entire surface becomes liquid. This helps prevent tunneling and ensures an even burn in subsequent uses.

2. Burn Time:

  • Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
  • Allow the candle to cool and solidify before relighting.
  • Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before relighting to prevent excessive smoking and soot buildup.

3. Wick Maintenance:

  • Keep the wick centered and trimmed to 1/4 inch before each burn to prevent uneven burning and excessive flame.
  • Remove any debris or trimmings from the wax before lighting.

4. Container Safety:

  • Place your candle on a heat-resistant surface and away from drafts.
  • Do not move the candle while it is burning or the wax is hot.
  • Stop burning the candle when 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the container.

5. Extinguishing:

  • Use a snuffer or gently blow on the flame to extinguish the candle.
  • Avoid using the candle lid or any other object to extinguish the flame, as this may cause wax splatter.

6. Avoid Drafts:

  • Keep candles away from drafts, vents, or air currents to ensure an even burn.

7. Safety Precautions:

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
  • Do not burn candles near flammable materials.
  • Use caution when handling a hot candle or liquid wax.

8. Storage:

  • Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent discoloration or softening.

9. Repurposing:

  • Once your candle has burned down, consider repurposing the container. Clean out any remaining wax, and you can use it for various purposes, such as storing small items or planting small plants.
